Cape Town Hidden Gems (Part 2)

There are many go-to spots across the city that are known by all to deliver a reliably good experience time and time again. However, let's not take the praise away from the foodie paths less travelled! Cape Town is home to some mighty fine restaurants that are seriously flying under the radar. Let us bring them to your attention...

1 - Tomo Japanese Restaurant

Hidden away on a little corner of Loop Street in the city centre, is the amazing Japanese Restaurant called Tomo. This super aesthetic and orientally decorated space is like a scene straight out of Japan. With an amazing menu variety along with hanging plants and classy wooden finishings - it really is a foodie spot that deserves more attention! The high quality food offering includes: sushi, dumplings, dimsum, ramen and some other delish Asian cuisine classics. Enjoy this authentic Japanese offering in the peaceful setting that is Tomo.

2 - Infinite Café

Plant based goodness is the topic of conversation at the lovely Infinite Café. Nestled away on Commercial Street in the centre of Cape Town - this warm and welcoming spot is a hidden gem without a doubt. The sunny and bright setting, plants galore and colourful decor all come together to create such a fabulous dining experience. Not to mention, this hangout has many tasty meal options that are available at such affordable prices! Head on over for Tempting Tuesdays, Wicked Wednesdays, Thunder Thursdays or Good Catch Fridays - a deal is there to be enjoyed nearly every day of the week.

3 - The Keyhole

As secretive as it gets…The Keyhole is a hidden cocktail bar and lounge which hosts unforgettable dining and drinking experiences. The space intends to transport guests back in time to enjoy a retro vibe in a dimmed and olden-day setting. Antique furniture pieces and grand lighting fixtures tie together a really special culinary adventure. There is a wonderful variety of food and beverages on offer. Enjoy small plates, main meals and an endless selection of cocktails! Rumour has it that Kalk Bay is where it can all be discovered.

4 - YU Restaurant

Operating from within the Onyx Hotel in the city centre is the super contemporary Asian tapas restaurant of YU. Pushing the barriers of Japanese cuisine, this incredible flavour experience is intensely underrated. Masters of dim sum, sushi, tempura, bao buns and so much more - if Asian food is your thing, then look no further! The rich interior includes a dimmed setting, warm colours and grand velvet details. Dine in style and welcome a taste explosion of note at this hidden gem of a restaurant. Make that reservation and allow the culinary magic to unfold before you.
