A Visit To Greenmarket Square

Have you ever attempted to explore your own city from the eyes of a tourist? Yes sure, hiking Table Mountain and going on a red topless bus tour may not have the same appeal as it may for a visitor. However, it can really make you appreciate your home with a new sense of love and admiration. We took a trip to the historically rich tourist attraction of Greenmarket Square to witness the amazing craftsmanship, culture and talent that Cape Town has to offer.

Greenmarket Square is one of the most vibrant corners of the Mother City. It’s located in a super historical inner city square which was built way back, in 1696 for that matter! Packed with endless amounts of crafts, jewelry, clothing and African curios - it’s an explosion of culture and a real sight to behold.

This open air attraction is the real deal! Even as a local, you’re bound to surprise yourself with a purchase or two (or three). If gifting is high on your agenda, then you have just another good reason to visit. With the gifting season looming, be sure to add this venue to your list of places to go in the coming weeks. Shopping is mostly what it’s all about when visiting Greenmarket Square, but, do promise us one thing upon your visit…and that is to sit back and truly admire the bold and beautiful history. The cobblestoned ground, detailed architecture and crazy creative energy are true testament to the special stories that have blessed those streets all these years.
